Now that you have decided to get married in Paradise, there are still a lot of things to consider and organize. The easiest way is to give everything into the hands of a professional wedding planer. Resorts and Hotels often are able to furnish weddings ceremonies, including the wedding planner services and receptions, and of course accommodation for the couple and their guests. Both sides of the island offer such services, although for foreigners there is a lot of documentation and paperwork’s required. You should start the organization with your wedding planner well in advance.

Here some information on the main requirements to wed on Sint Maarten:

• Couples must be older than 18 years old
• A temporary tourist permit from the Lieutenant Governor must be requested (not exceeding 3 months)
• Birth certificates
• Valid return or ongoing tickets
• Divorce certificate if appropriate
• An official translator or a notary public must translate documents in Dutch
• The ceremony can then only be performed after the request has been approved and a 14 days waiting period
• Marriages on Tuesdays through Thursdays – a fee of 102 US Dollars apply
• Marriages on Fridays – a fee of 113 US Dollar apply
• Marriages on Saturday – a fee of 204 US Dollar apply

• A local clergyman performs the ceremony in the Philipsburg Wedding Hall
