St. Martin / Sint Maarten Groceries and Food Stores

Staying on the island you will certainly not be lacking anything in groceries you are used to back home. Moreover, visitors have the chance to discover the products of France and Europe all together, not to mention local goodies and fruits and vegetables, and everything else what grows on the surrounding Caribbean islands… and in the sea… Food shopping is a real pleasure, entering the supermarkets and local open markets feels like traveling into another world, explore by yourself what the world has to offer!

Everything you are craving for is in reachable distance on St. Martin / Sint Maarten! You absolutely need American coffee, juices and milk products you are used to, the meat dishes you cannot live without, don’t worry, you will be able to get everything you need on the Dutch side Sint Maarten Supermarkets. Travelers are in general surprised by the selection of the products, all kind of American food, but not too many Dutch products… Indonesia, China, Japan are very well represented as well, Soy sauce and sushi rice and Wasabi, Asian fruits and vegetables, are easily at hand in one of the many Chinese groceries stores, located on both sides of the island. The French supermarkets and gourmet shops though are offering in general French food. Absolutely fabulous French wines and champagnes, a gourmet choice of cheeses (some of them are illegal in the US…. Sneak in and try them here!), delicious baguette bread, still hot… And what about those beautiful oysters, the fresh salmon, and lobsters all appetizingly presented on blocks of ice, want some more? Mouthwatering French ‘charcuterie’, duck liver (Foie Gras), duck breast (Magret de canard) and everything else to contribute to a perfect ‘diner français’. For local fruits and vegetables as mangoes, avocados, bananas, breadfruit, stop at one of the numerous gipsy stands on the side of the road on both sides of the island.
