Getting around

Many ways to discover our tropical paradise! Either you decide to stay on St. Martin and Sint Maarten, or you want to explore the surrounding islands. Visitors will find easy and affordable ways to get around. Border checks on the island are in general not performed, and tourists circulate freely with their rental cars, bikes, taxis on both sides of the ‘friendly island’. Rental cars are available in abundance, reliable taxi services, motorbikes, ferries, you name it we have it, and all at reasonable rates.

Island Driving: many roundabouts, no speed cameras, 1 traffic light, low gas price, short distances from one point to the other… and last but not least many traffic jams in high season…. The numerous car rental agencies propose cars for every taste, luxury limousines, standard cars, SUV at very reasonable prices. It is advisable though to reserve your vehicle a few days in advance during high season.

For those a little bit more adventurous, motorbikes and scooters can be leased. What about a fabulous day on your Harley? Cruise on the roads, follow the coastline, feel the warm Caribbean breeze on your skin……

No international driving license required, for both, car and motorbike rentals.

Taxis are surely a good way to get around, and on top of it your driver makes an excellent tour guide. He will furnish the best addresses where to shop, to dine, and in general has a lot to tell about everyday’s’ island life.

Public transport is feasible, but a less convenient way to travel. Local Mini buses transfer island wide, but the random stops, no schedule, can make you reach your destination a long adventure. Or you take it on the positive side of life; Travel with the cheerful local crowd and make new friends!

Ferries are usually on schedule, leaving from Marigot to Anguilla and St. Barth’s, from Simpson Bay to Saba, and from Oyster Pond and Philipsburg to St. Barth’s. Pinel Island can be easily reached with the Cul de Sac Ferryboat.
